PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuously variable transmission which can improve fuel efficiency.SOLUTION: A continuously variable transmission comprises: a fixed conical plate 22a fixed to a rotating shaft 12; a movable conical plate 22b which can move in an axial direction of the rotating shaft 12 with respect to the fixed conical plate 22a; a slide mechanism 50 which makes the movable conical plate 22b movable; and a control part 60 which controls a state of the slide mechanism 50. The control part 60 changes a groove width of a second pulley 22 by moving the movable conical plate 22b by driving a motor generator 30 in a state that a first clutch 34 is fastened, fastens the second clutch 35, and drives the motor generator 30 as a generator by the rotation of the rotating shaft 12.
