PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide systems and methods of modifying a plurality of audio sources surrounding a user to indicate presence of danger or other events of interest within a vehicle.SOLUTION: A personal safety system samples an audio panorama that is a plurality of audio sources surrounding a user and identifies a direction of interest relative to a direction that the user is facing 601; generates a sound field being an audio cone within the audio panorama that indicates a direction of danger 602; maps an audio source in the audio panorama to a corresponding position within the audio cone 603; modulates sound that is output to the user to reflect a new position of the audio source within the audio cone 604; and determines whether additional audio sources need to be mapped 605.
