摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress an increase of a pressure loss of a particulate filter caused by ash.SOLUTION: A fine pore region ZMI is defined at an upstream side of a bulkhead 72 of a particulate filter, and a coarse pore region ZMA is defined at a downstream side of the bulkhead. A fine pore diameter of the bulkhead in the fine pore region is set so that particulate substances and ash can be collected by the bulkhead in the fine pore region, and a fine pore diameter of the bulkhead in the coarse pore region is set so that the ash can pass the bulkhead in the coarse pore region. When it is discriminated that an amount of collecting the particulate substances is smaller than a limit amount, gas flow-rate control is performed which temporarily increases a flow rate of a gas flowing into the particulate filter in order to remove the ash from the particulate filter.
