PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology that suppresses reduction in display quality of image data, and enables reduction in flicker of a screen.SOLUTION: A display device according to the present invention includes: light emission means; display means; and control means for controlling light emission luminance of the light emission means to a value corresponding to brightness of image data on a frame for each frame. The display device includes frame determination means for determining whether the frame is a frame right after a specific display period in which prescribed low luminance image data is displayed for each frame. The control means is configured to control the light emission luminance to the brightness of the image data on the frame for the frame determined not to be the frame right after the specific display period. For the frame determined to be the frame is the frame right after the specific display period, the control means is configured to control the light emission luminance between a value corresponding to the brightness of the image data on the frame and a value corresponding to the prescribed low luminance image data.
