The present invention relates to a speed control method of a vehicle and, more specifically, relates to a speed control method of a vehicle by a driver′s intent of driving at a steady speed by which if driving at the steady speed condition is satisfied; a driver′s intent of driving at the steady speed is determined, and in accordance to the determination, the speed of the vehicle is allowed to constantly be maintained. The speed control method of the vehicle through the driver′s intent of driving at the steady speed comprises: a steady speed driving determining step of determining whether to satisfy the steady speed driving condition of the vehicle; a speed setting step of setting a current vehicle speed to a target vehicle speed if the steady speed driving condition is satisfied; a steady speed driving mode step of controlling a vehicle speed in accordance to the target vehicle speed; a pedal effort determining step of determining whether to maintain a pedal effort of an accelerating pedal in driving at the steady speed; and a normal driving mode converting step of converting into a normal driving mode wherein in the pedal effort determining step, if the pedal effort of the accelerating pedal is maintained in a predetermined certain range, the steady speed driving mode step is performed, and if the pedal effort of the accelerating pedal is beyond a predetermined certain range, the step is moved to the normal driving mode converting step.
