<p>In humans, skin is the largest organ of the integumentary system covering the entire body. It is made up of multiple layers of ectodermal tissue. It guards the underlying muscles, bones, ligaments and internal organs in addition to serving as a protective shield against heat, light, injury, infection etc. Skin also regulates body temperature, stores water and fat and prevents loss of water and entry of bacteria. However, the integrity of skin is adversely affected on exposure to ultraviolet radiations. This invention relates to the Preparation, Evaluation and Characterization of a formulation for its Photoprotective and Radio decontamination activity. The present work aims at formulating a suitable topicalsemi-solid formulation of rosmarinic acid for effective photo-protection as well as radio-decontamination purposes.</p> |
