The tray has identical gas passage units allowing passage of gas through the tray. A wall (4) defines compartments (8) on identical surface areas of the tray. Each compartment comprises liquid passage unit (5) for allowing passage of the liquid through the tray. The gas passage units include a chimney projecting upward from the surface of the tray. The gas passage units are spaced apart to permit a part of the liquid to flow between the compartments, where the gas passage units are oriented along diameter of the tray.
