The present invention relates to a configuration and reproduction method and apparatus for a sensory effect media data file comprising sensory effect information. The configuration method for a sensory effect media data file, according to one embodiment of the present invention, may comprise the steps of: inserting, into a configuration information container field, a first configuration information indicative of the properties of media data; inserting, into the configuration information container field, a second configuration information indicative of the properties of sensory effect data; inserting a sample of the media data into a media data field, wherein the sample means a datum associated with one timestamp; and inserting a sample of the sensory effect data into the media data field.
