This invention provides an optical measurement device, and a device provided with an optical system, that exhibit excellent sensitivity and can measure the intensity and spatial distribution of scattered light from a specimen. In this device, image distortion is minimized by the use of a structure in which light emanating from a first object reflects off ellipsoidal mirrors an even number of times, said number of times being at least two, before reaching a second object. Two ellipsoidal mirrors are aligned so as to share one focus, with the remaining two foci on opposite sides of the shared focus so as to form a single line. By leaving the shared focus empty, placing the first object at one of the other foci, and placing the second object at the remaining focus, image distortion is minimized. |
