<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric propulsion ship that can save weight for a further elongation of a navigation-enabling distance.SOLUTION: In an electric propulsion ship, a propulsion dynamo-electric motor 36 that rotates a screw 38 consists of an AC motor and is electrically connected to storage batteries 32 and 33 via an inverter 16 that converts direct current supplied from the storage batteries 32 and 33 into alternating current. In spite of the use of storage batteries, the AC motor can be driven, so that the screw can be rotated at a desired speed of rotation without using a speed reduction mechanism as in the case of using a DC motor. This process enables a navigation-enabling distance by storage batteries to get longer by saving weight more than in the case of using a DC motor.</p> |
