摘要 The present invention provides electric cable having substantial immunity to external magnetic fields. The cables may be prepared by splitting one or more conductors of an original cable design into two or more sub-conductors, determining a crosssectional area for each one of the sub-conductors to obtain a desirable electrical current density therethrough, arranging the sub-conductors in said cable in an intervening fashion such that each sub-conductor is placed adjacent and alongside at least one neighboring conductor or sub-conductor associated with either a different electrical phase or electric current direction, and electrically connecting the sub-conductors of each split conductor in parallel.

A method of improving immunity of an electric cable to external magnetic fields, said cable comprising two or more current conductors, the method comprising: splitting the current conductors of the cable into two or more sub-conductors; determining a cross-sectional area for each one of said sub-conductors to obtain a desirable electrical current density therethrough, wherein for each splitted current conductor a sum of the cross-sectional areas determined for sub-conductors associated with said current conductor is equal or smaller than a cross-sectional area of said current conductor; arranging the sub-conductors in said cable in an intervening fashion such that each sub-conductor is placed adjacent and alongside at least one neighboring sub-conductor associated with either a different electrical phase or electric current direction; and for each splitted current conductor, electrically connecting in parallel the sub-conductors associated with said current conductor.
