PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose an electrical domain solution for compensating the problems due to frequency chirp at less cost.SOLUTION: Interaction of frequency chirp and fiber dispersion is analyzed anew. Linear and non-linear characteristics of chirp-dispersion are analyzed individually. A pre-compensation transmitter may be constituted of a phase interpolation unit, two-tap data generation unit, a pulse extension clock generation unit, a rising pattern detection unit, a 4:1MUX, and an output driver. A post-compensation receiver may be constituted of a linear equalizer for rabbit ear compensation, a non-linear equalizer for tilting compensation, a general high frequency boosting equalizer, and a limit amplifier. |
