PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for compensating inter-channel nonlinear damage.SOLUTION: A compensation apparatus for nonlinear damage includes: an iteration parameter determining unit configured to determine an iteration step size of cross-phase modulation damage compensation performed in each channel in a multichannel optical fiber transmission link; an estimation unit configured to divide an optical fiber transmission link in each iteration step size of each channel into one or more optical fiber segments, and perform cross-phase modulation damage estimation at a position in each optical fiber segment where nonlinear damage is maximal; and a first compensation unit configured to perform cross-phase modulation damage compensation according to the result of the cross-phase modulation damage estimation. By performing cross-phase modulation damage estimation at a position in each optical fiber segment where nonlinear damage is maximal, cross-phase modulation damage compensation can be performed effectively, and performance of a communication system can be improved. |
