PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image capturing device capable of performing high-precision focus detection using an image sensor including focus detection pixels.SOLUTION: An image capturing device includes; an image sensor which has a plurality of focus-detection pixels and a plurality of image-capturing pixels and photoelectrically converts an object image; first evaluation value computation means which performs correlation operations using first pixel signals obtained from the plurality of focus-detection pixels to compute a first correlation evaluation value; second evaluation value computation means which performs correlation operations using second pixel signals obtained from the plurality of image-forming pixels to compute a second correlation evaluation value; and focus detection means which detects a focusing state using the first correlation evaluation value and the second correlation evaluation value.
