PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods and apparatuses for use by devices within a wireless communication network to request and/or provide assistance data and/or other like data associated with various satellite positioning systems (SPSs).SOLUTION: A mobile station identifies SPS related assistance data and multiple formats for a particular SPS, specifies all or part of the assistance data and one or more formats for the particular SPS and requests them from a network resource (a base station, a location server, a PDE, etc.) over a communication network. The network resource receives the assistance data for the request message and transmits it to the mobile station. Thereby, the requested assistance data is acquired. |
