PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method for communication terminal for making it possible to simply recognize a user's waking up and simply control an illumination apparatus after the user's waking up.SOLUTION: A communication terminal includes a memory and a sensor for detecting operation of the communication terminal. A control method for the communication terminal makes a computer of the communication terminal: store first illumination setting information for making an illumination apparatus be set in a first illumination state and second illumination setting information for making the illumination apparatus be set in a second illumination state differing from the first illumination state, in a memory; transmit a first control signal corresponding to the first illumination setting information to the illumination apparatus through a network to make the illumination apparatus be in the first illumination state, when predetermined illumination start time for lighting the illumination apparatus comes; and transmit a second control signal corresponding to the second illumination setting information to the illumination apparatus through the network to make the illumination apparatus be in the second illumination state, when the sensor detects operation of the communication terminal after the predetermined illumination start time.
