Disclosed is an apparatus for estimating the state of a secondary battery using an extended Kalman filter, the secondary battery comprising a positive electrode including first and second positive electrode materials having different operation voltage ranges, a negative electrode including a negative electrode material, and a separation membrane disposed therebetween. The apparatus comprises: a sensor unit for measuring the voltage and current of the secondary battery at a time interval; and a control unit for estimating the state of the secondary battery including the charging state of at least one of the first positive electrode material, the second positive electrode material and the negative electrode material, by executing an extended Kalman filter algorithm using a state equation including, as a state variable, the charging state of at least one of the first positive electrode material, the second positive electrode material and the negative electrode material, and using an output equation including the voltage of the secondary battery as an output variable. |
