PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pharmaceutical composition for treating or preventing various diseases by enhancing the function of blood-brain barrier.SOLUTION: The pharmaceutical composition contains metformin or buformin which are biguanide drugs, or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof as an active ingredient. The pharmaceuticals are used for prevention, suppression, or improvement of tremor, spasm, leukoencephalopathy, headache, sleepiness, disturbance of consciousness, anomalous behavior, delirium, hallucination, delusion, epilepsy, cerebral infarction, hemorrhagic infarct, cerebral edema, brain injury, sepsis, Alzheimer's disease, and diseases selected from combinations thereof. The metformin and buformin are preferred to be hydrochloride and the dosage is preferred to be 125-3000 mg/person/day. |
