PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module allowing an optical fiber insertion tube to be adequately filled with solder.SOLUTION: There is provided an optical module 10 including: an optical element 1; a housing 2 for storing the optical element 1; an optical fiber 3 optically coupled to the optical element 1; and an optical fiber insertion member 4 for guiding the optical fiber 3. The housing 2 has a housing body 5, and a lid body 12 closing an opening 2c. The optical fiber insertion member 4 has an insertion hole 4a through which the optical fiber 3 is inserted, and is attached to the housing body 5 while being inserted into a fitting port 6. The insertion hole 4a is filled with solder 8. When the fitting port 6 is used as a reference, a first direction side of the housing body 5 is a large capacity region 9A, and a second direction side of the housing body 5 is a small capacity region 9B smaller than the large capacity region 9A in calorific capacity. A portion 14 inserted in the fitting port 6 has a larger minimum thickness at a portion 14a of the insertion hole 4a on the first direction side than a minimum thickness at a portion 14b on the second direction side. |
