PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarization conversion element such that light resistance is improved and manufacturing is easy, a projector using the polarization conversion element, and a manufacturing method of a polarization conversion element.SOLUTION: A polarization conversion element 1 includes: a plurality of first translucent substrates 111 and second translucent substrates 112 that have a light incident surface 115 and a light ejection surface 116 and are disposed alternately; a polarization separation film 120; a reflection film 130; and a retardation plate 180. On first surfaces 111a of the first translucent substrates 111, the polarization separation film 120 or a plasma polymerization film 151 is formed, on second surfaces 111b of the first translucent substrates 111, the reflection film 130 is formed, on first surfaces 112a of the second translucent substrates 112, an adhesive layer 161 is formed, and on second surfaces 112b of the second translucent substrates 112, the polarization separation film 120 or the plasma polymerization film 151 is formed. |
