PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an installation for cooling a steel material and a method and an installation for producing a steel material which promote cooling of the lower surface of a steel material, provide a material having high strength and toughness and do not cause warpage during cooling.SOLUTION: A method of cooling a steel material comprises immersing a steel material in water so that the inclination angle from the horizontal surface in the short-side direction of wide-surface parts of the steel material is 10° or larger, with the wide-surface parts of the steel material as the upper and lower surfaces, and spraying bubbles larger in diameter than the bubbles generated on the lower surface of the steel material, vertically upward at an air flow rate of 3-15 Nl/min in the lower direction of the steel material toward the lower end part of the steel material in the inclination direction. |
