PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmitter, a receiver, a digital broadcasting system and a chip capable of improving the reception characteristics, in a case where the symbols representing odd bits are mapped on the IQ plane.SOLUTION: A transmitter 10 includes a bit interleave section 12 for swapping the order of bits included in a unit bit string composed of a predetermined number of bits, and a mapping section 13 for mapping the bit string, outputted from the bit interleave section 12, on the IQ plane. When an odd bit string composed of odd number of bits is mapped as one or a plurality of symbols, the bit interleave section 12 swaps the order of bits for each odd bit string, with reference to a table for odd bit. |
