<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating material for a rice seed which does not have a problem of reduction in a germination rate due to heat generation or the like, and which is difficult to be peeled under the water, and to provide a coated rice seed having a high germination rate and having a coating difficult to be peeled under the water.SOLUTION: A coating material for a rice seed contains an iron oxide, a polyvinyl alcohol and a bentonite, and the polyvinyl alcohol has a polymerization degree of 500 or greater, and a saponification degree in a range of 71.0-89.0 mol%. In a coated rice seed in which a rice seed is coated with the coating material containing the iron oxide, polyvinyl alcohol and bentonite, the polyvinyl alcohol has a polymerization degree of 500 or greater, and a saponification degree in a range of 71.0-89.0 mol%.</p> |
