[Also in Division H2] A clamping device for securing overlapping cable portions together comprises one or more preformed helical clamp rods, each rod,for the whole or part of its length, having an internal diameter that is less than the maximum combined cross-sectional diameter of the overlapping portions but greater than the diameter of one portion. In Fig. 13 a loop 11 is formed by folding the end 14 of the cable 10 back upon itself and securing the overlapping portions 10, 14 together by one of said preformed clamping rods 16. The rod 16 may have ends 16a, 16b the internal diameter of which is less than a single cable portion. In modified constructions there are a plurality of the rods 16 and where the ends 16a, 16b are about ferrules may surround the ends of the helical clamp rods 16. |
