An energy treatment instrument having an insertion part, a pair of arms capable of an opening/closing operation and provided in the distal section of the insertion part, a treatment member detachably provided on the first arm, an engageable part capable of engagement with the treatment member and provided on the second arm, and an operation part for opening and closing the pair of arms, wherein: the treatment member has a conductive knifewire, and an engaging member capable of engaging the engageable part, capable of attachment to and detachment from the first arm, and positioned on the first arm; the engageable part has a retainer capable of holding the engaging member using a force stronger than the force with which the first arm holds the engaging member; and after the first and second arms move during the opening/closing operation so as to mutually approach one another, the engaging member held by the first arm is held by the retainer, and the engaging member is separated from the first arm and held as is by the retainer of the second arm as a result of the operation for separating the first and second arms from one another. |
