The invention relates to a gear mechanism for a reversible belt tensioner, comprising an output gear (1) made of a plastic that can be rotatively driven, and a drive wheel that is, or can be, connected to a belt shaft of the belt tensioner in a rotationally fixed manner, and at least one coupling pawl (4) provided on the output gear (1), which upon an activation of the reversible belt tensioner moves into a toothing of the drive wheel, and which in a load-transmitting position in at least one direction of rotation establishes a rotationally fixed connection between the output gear (1) and the drive wheel. On the output gear (1), a support ring (3) made of a material having a higher solidity than the output gear (1) and connected to the output gear (1) in a rotationally fixed manner is provided, which with a projection (21, 22) protrudes into a first recess (15, 16) of the output gear (1). The recess (15, 16) is positioned such that in the load-transmitting position, the at least one coupling pawl (4) is supported by the output gear (1) by way of the projection (21, 22) of the support ring (3) engaging with the recess (15, 16). |
