The present technology pertains to: a control device which makes it possible to increase variation in the state of connection with an electronic device connected to a prescribed cable such as a USB (Universal Serial Bus) cable; a control method; a cable; an electronic device; and a communication device. An electronic device for receiving a base-band signal is controlled so as to start an initialization processing for attaining a state in which the establishment of a connection is possible, or so as to turn a power supply on or off, on the basis of detection results pertaining to the power of a modulation signal obtained by frequency-converting the base-band signal of the base band to a signal in a prescribed frequency band higher than the base band. The present technology can be applied, for example, to a cable or the like to be connected to an electronic device to which it is possible to connect a cable capable of supplying a bus-powered power supply such as a USB cable.
