PROBLEM: Due to field of view restrictions, an automatic teaching or monitoring operation of a total station-like instrument that scans a spatial range for target reflectors and takes photos while doing so may only capture partial, imperfect images of the target reflectors. When identifying the center position of a target reflector, these partial images may cause inaccuracies.
SOLUTION: The scanning operation involves taking overlapping photos in which partial and complete target images are identified and marked using rectangular bounding boxes. These individual boxes are superimposed (if possible) based on their known angular coordinates so as to determine if they belong to the same target reflector, and a center point of an overall bounding box that encloses all individual bounding boxes belonging to a same reflector is selected as the center point of the reflector. |
