In the case of a crash of a motor vehicle, it must be ensured that electrical loads are cut off from voltage, because otherwise a short-circuit current can flow, for example via crushed cables, and a cable fire can result. In order to interrupt a power supply, loads can be coupled to a vehicle battery by means of a safety switch. When such a safety switch is opened, however, there is a risk that an electric arc can form between the contacts of the safety switch, and a current can thereby continue to flow, even when the safety switch is opened. The aim of the present invention is therefore to provide a safety switch, by means of which a vehicle battery can be reliably cut off from a vehicle electrical network. According to the invention, to this end, a pyrotechnic safety switch (10) is provided, wherein a propellant charge can be ignited in a gas chamber (36) spatially separated from an isolation distance (42) by means of which the interruption of the power supply is to be brought about. The invention is in particular suitable for uncoupling a high-voltage battery from a vehicle electrical network of a motor vehicle.
|
