Nowadays, there are different groups of emerging diseases, of which viral infections represent a group of higher incidence. The Herpes Simplex Virus type 1 (HSV-1) and Herpes Simplex Virus type 2 (HSV-2) are human pathogens causing recurrent infections of the nervous system located in lips, eyes, mucous membranes of the mouth and genitals. Due to the limitations in the current therapies for treating this type of infection, arises the need of a large search of new antiviral agents. The upper plants remain as a reservoir of chemical compounds with a great therapeutic potential as antiviral agents. The present invention refers to the use of a compound resulting from the Jatropha genus plant with antiviral activity against HSV-1 and HSV-2, specifically Riolozatriona. This invention looks for natural origin alternatives for avoiding infections and spread of viral particles of the herpes genus, specifically Herpes Simplex Virus 1 (HSV-1) and Herpes Simplex Virus 2 (HSV-2). |
