<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear position detection device capable of accurately detecting the gear position of a transmission with a simple configuration even when the transmission is installed or replaced. <P>SOLUTION: When receiving a learning permission instruction, a learning determination part 3 learns that the output value of a sensor output from a shift drum sensor 11 which is detected by a sensor output detection part 2 corresponds to the neutral position N of the transmission, and stores the output value VN of the sensor output corresponding to the neutral position N in a RAM 4b or the like.
