<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of making misalignment of a gloss imparted region less visible even when gloss is imparted to a recording sheet contracted after fixation. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 100 includes a fixing device 16 for heating a toner image transferred from an intermediate transfer belt 8 onto a recording sheet, a thermal head 201 imparting gloss to an optional region of the recording sheet heated by the fixing device 16, and an operation unit 505 setting a region for imparting gloss.
