An optical scanning device configured to remove or sufficiently reduce ghost light includes an input optical system for directing a light beam from a light source to a deflecting surface of a deflector in an oblique direction in a sub-scanning direction section, an imaging optical system for converging an effective light beam deflected by the deflecting surface onto a surface to be scanned, and a light blocking member provided between the deflecting surface and the surface to be scanned for blocking ghost light, wherein the light blocking member includes an upper light blocking member and a lower light blocking member which are provided at different positions with respect to a sub-scanning direction and in a direction of an optical axis of the imaging optical system, and an end portion of each of the upper light blocking member and the lower light blocking member at a side where the effective light beam passes is arcuated such that a distance from a plane including a point of deflection in a deflecting plane and being perpendicular to a rotational axis of the deflector increases from a central portion in a main-scanning direction toward a peripheral portion.
|
