The cast steel cylinder block 3 of a reciprocating refrigerant compressor is accommodated with clearance X in a pressure-cast frame 10 of aluminium, zinc or an alloy thereof, and is secure thereto by screws 11 passing through holes in the flange 3<SP>1</SP> of the block 3. The screws 11 also secure a valve plate 4 and a cover 9 to the frame 10. The plate 4 has an inlet port 5 controlled by a tongue valve 12 and a discharge port (not shown) controlled by a tongue valve 15. The inlet and outlet ports communicate respectively with inlet and discharge chambers 19, 20 in the cover 9, and passages 23, 24 connect the chambers to noise-suppressing chambers 25 in the frame 10.</p> |
