DETERMINING A VALUE OF A RECORDING PARAMETER BY MEANS OF AN ANATOMIC LANDMARK

The present invention relates to a method to determine the value of a recording parameter by using an anatomical landmark and to an imaging system by the method. The method of the present invention to determine at least one value of at least one recording parameter for recording an X-ray image of a patient positioned in an examination table uses a non-contact scanning of at least one part of the surface of the patient by using at least one electromagnetic sensor in order to compute the three-dimensional contour of the surface scanned without an additional exposure to radiation. Inventors of the present invention recognize that at least one anatomical landmark of a patient can be identified by using a three-dimensional contour and the position of the anatomical landmark can be determined in the coordinate system of an examination table. The value of a recording parameter can be determined by using the position of an anatomical landmark. The value of a recording parameter can be quickly and easily determined in view of a technology since a non-contact scanning of surfaces can be quickly and easily achieved in view of the technology.
