<p>Method and apparatus for providing user interaction with third parties through an electronic programme guide for a television receiver, comprising: receiving scheduling information 310 for populating the EPG; receiving offer information 320 associated with the scheduling information; displaying the scheduling information with associated advertisement information 330 as an electronic TV listing; receiving a user selection of offer information 340; and establishing a transaction for the offer information 350. The method may be performed by a smart TV (1, Fig. 1), set-top box, media hub or computing device such as a laptop, smart phone (6, Fig. 1) or tablet that communicates with the TV receiver. The transaction 350 may be processed by a payment application. The offer 320 may be provided by a broadcaster, merchant or payment provider. Also disclosed is a method of providing offer information 320 in an electronic TV program guide 330, comprising: receiving scheduling information for populating the television guide 310; identifying user history information; determining offers specific to the user based on the user history; associating the adverts with the schedule information 320; and presenting the offer and schedule information in the TV program listing 330. The user history information may comprise past purchase information or viewing history.</p> |
