<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine whether or not a vehicle of a subject has an asymmetrical portion on the basis of an image of the vehicle captured from an oblique direction. <P>SOLUTION: A vehicle detection device extracts from an image of a vehicle feature portions including portions indicating central positions of a front face of the vehicle and a plurality of line segments each indicating a linear portion extending in a horizontal direction in the front face of the vehicle; obtains centers of the line segments on the basis of relative positions of the portions indicating the center positions and the line segments adjacent to the portions indicating the center positions to calculate ratios of distances from the centers of the line segments to one ends of the line segments to distances from the centers of the line segments to the other ends of the line segments; obtains internal division points dividing the plurality of line segments on the basis of the ratios to generate a center line connecting the internal division points of the respective line segments with each other; and in the image of a portion indicating the vehicle included in the image of the vehicle, detects a region of the image having an asymmetrical feature with respect to the center line by dividing the front face of the vehicle into a left side portion and a right side portion using as a boundary the center line to compare the left side portion with the right side portion. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
