A compartmented bottle-crate made of metal rods, wires or strips, is provided with means for closing its open upper end which comprise two frames 11 and intersecting rods 13, both frames being hinged to an upper horizontal frame 1 by means of U-shaped brackets 12. The side walls of the crate are formed by vertical rods which are bent outwardly at their upper and lower ends so that the closure frameworks may hang vertically when fully open as shown on the right-hand side of the Figure. The compartments are formed by bent rods 6 secured at opposite ends to a circumferentially extending rod 5 and a second such rod 9 may be provided to reinforce the crate. The bottles are supported by a framework adjacent or above a lower horizontal frame 2. Instead of the brackets 12 the closure frameworks may be hinged to the frame 1 by bending therearound some of the rods 13 and means (not shown) may be provided to retain them in position both when open and closed. Stacking ribs 14 may also be provided. |
