A liquid comprising an oxymethylene polymer containing 25 to 0.5 mole per cent of oxyalkylene units having adjacent carbon atoms is extruded through a spinning orifice and the extended material solidified. Preferred polymers are those of trioxane with ethylene oxide, 1,3-dioxolane, 1,3,5-trioxepane, 1-3-dioxane, trimethylene oxide, pentamethylene oxide, 1-2-propylene oxide, 1-2-butylene oxide, neopentyl formal, pentaerythritol diformal, paraldehyde, tetrahydrofurane, and butadiene monoxide. A thermal stabilizer, e.g. a bis-phenol anti-oxidant and a scission inhibitor which is a monomeric or polymeric compound containing a trivalent nitrogen may also be present.
