In an air intake system for port-controlled two-stroke cycle internal-combustion engines of the kind having crankcase compression and a carburetter, the carburetter is provided with a filterless air inlet funnel 2 which narrows in the inlet direction and extends from the carburetter into a chamber 3 provided with a fixed end wall 5 extending across and spaced from the opening of the funnel and possessing a degree of air permeability. The end wall may separate the chamber from one or more successive interconnected chambers. The chambers and the funnel may be made of or lined with a vibration damping material. As shown the piping 7 connects the chamber 6 to a further chamber in the frame 8 of a vehicle. |
