<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery suitable for a high-capacity lithium secondary battery, and to provide a high-capacity lithium secondary battery which is excellent in rapid charge-discharge characteristics and cycle characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: In a negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery formed by integrating the mixture of graphite particles and an organic binder with a current collector, the negative electrode for the lithium secondary battery contains 3-20 wt.% of an organic binder in the mixture.
