Injection mouldings are produced from plastics by preplasticising the plastics in a cylinder by a rotating transport screw with relative movement between the cylinder and the transport screw at the open die mouth against the plastic filled injection mould, the relative movement being caused by the propulsive pressure of the plastics, relaxing the propulsive pressure at the open die mouth by limited movement between the transport screw and the cylinder, removing the cylinder from the open die mouth, and injecting the plastics into the mould by an axial stroke of the transport screw after the previously moulded moulding has been removed. Plastic materials normally difficult to injection mould, such as plastics contg. large quantities of asbestos, glass or textile fibres, and ceramics or metal powders, can be easily injection moulded.
|
