The invention provides a process for wool dyeing in which levelling agents which are polyglycol ether dirivatives of primary or secondary amines having at least one aliphatic residual of 12-24 c atoms bound to the amino group, or polyglycol ether derivatives of water soluble salts of acid esters of polybasic acids are used in conjunction with any wool dye and paraffin oil, an emulsifier for the paraffin oil and a silicone defoaming agent. The polyglycol ether derivatives have 20-70 ethenomy groups (-CH2-CH2-O-) and at least 100% on weight of levelling of paraffin oil is used, at least 0.1% in weight of levelling agent of silicone defoaming agent is used, at least 5% on weight of paraffin oil of emulsifying agent is used. Dyes used are chromium copper and cobalt complex dyes and acid dyes, convertional dyeing processes are used.
