The invention comprises 4, 7-dimethyl-octen-6-one-3 and 5-ethyl-8-methyl-nonen-7-one-4. These two compounds may be prepared by the process of Specification 948,752, using 3-methyl-buten-1-ol-3 and 1-propionyl-1-methyl-ketene or 1-butyryl -1- ethyl-ketene and 3-methyl-buten-1-ol-3 respectively as the initial reactants. This process comprises reacting the initial reactants and pyrolising the acetoacetates thus produced to give the unsaturated ketones. |
