<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide steel for induction hardening, which has excellent hardness and machinability. <P>SOLUTION: The steel for induction hardening includes, by mass, 0.40-0.65% of C, 0.010-0.50% of Si, 1.0-2.0% of Mn, >0 and≤0.03% of P, 0.002-0.10% of S, 0.010-0.3% of Cr, 0.06-0.50% of Al, 0.0050-0.010% of B, and 0.01-0.030% of N, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, and has≥0.010% of a nitride. The metal structure of the steel includes pearlite and bainite and further can include ferrite, wherein the total area ratio of the pearlite and bainite to the entire structure is 95 area% or more, and the area ratios of the ferrite and bainite to the entire structure are 1 area% or less (including 0%) and 20-50 area%, respectively. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
