<p>The present invention is directed to a piezoelectric transducer (sensor and / or actuator) comprising: a piezoelectric material layer (3); two plate electrodes (5, 7) arranged on opposing sides of a first portion (9) of the piezoelectric material layer (3); and at least one pair of interdigitated electrodes (13, 15) arranged on at least one side of a second portion (11) of the piezoelectric material layer (3). According to the invention each pair of interdigitated electrodes (13, 15) is adapted to generate or sense an electrical field in a longitudinal direction (I), substantially in parallel to the plane of the piezoelectric material layer (3), wherein the second portion (11) is laterally contiguous to the first portion (9) essentially in a direction (t) transversal with respect to the longitudinal field sensing or generating direction (I).</p> |
