<p>The present invention relates to a method for testing the strength of a bond between a wheel having a tyre bonded thereto, for example, tyre wheels on which tyres are bonded to form bonded tyre wheels. To carry out the method, a wheel 2 having a tyre 6 bonded to the wheel by an adhesive layer 4 is provided and at least one block 6a is cut into the tyre by removing tyre material surrounding the at least one block so that the wheel body is exposed. Once the wheel has been prepared, a shearing tool 20 having a shearing surface is positioned at an angle substantially perpendicular to the periphery of the wheel to enable the shearing means to apply a force in a direction substantially parallel to the adhesive layer. Once the force is applied, the at least one block is sheared from the wheel and the force required to shear the block can be measured.</p> |
