<p>Organic carboxylates and carbonates of iron, cobalt and nickel can be obtained in the form of powders of particle size of less than three microns by mixing an ionized solution containing the anions of one or more organic carboxylic acids and/or carbonic acid with a solution of one or more salts or iron, cobalt and/or nickel, and adding an organic liquid consisting of one or more alcohols, ketones and/or esters to the mixed solutions or to either or both of said solutions prior to mixing. In a preferred method, the solutions are mixed and the organic liquid added at a time within 5 to 100 seconds thereafter.ALSO:A powder having particle size of less than three microns is made by mixing an ionized solution containing the anions of carbonic acid with a solution of one or more salts of iron, cobalt and/or nickel, an organic liquid consisting of one or more alcohols, ketones and/or esters, being added to the mixed solutions or included in either or both of said solutions prior to mixing.
