The powder 147 or the core may be of silicon carbide, copper, nickel or tungsten. The core may also be of silver or molybdenum. Hoppers 149, 151, 171, 173 supply the powder to the nip between rolls 131, 133 which compact it against the core. Electrically conductive cores are heated by a transformer 139. The powder is heated by heaters 159, 161.
