The present invention relates to a driving apparatus for washing machine and the driving method thereof which minimizes energy consumption, and has the effect of driving mutually in opposite direction with a double driving force using the following method: while the pulsator and washing machine tub rotate in one direction, the tub is set to freewheel or rotate by inertial force in low-power driving, and the pulsator is set to counter-rotate. In the present invention, when driving the pulsator and washing machine tub in reverse directions, the outer and inner rotors are driven in the first direction for rotating the tub, then set the tub to rotate by freewheeling, intermittent driving, or low-power driving, and have the pulsator counter-rotate by driving the outer rotor in the opposite direction of the first direction. |
